Documentation and Design Control
At FTI Manufacturing, we follow a structured system of documentation and design control to ensure accuracy, consistency, and compliance across every project. While we do not own the design process itself, we work closely with our customers to enhance manufacturability and ensure seamless execution.
We maintain strict document and revision control systems to guarantee that every update, change, or requirement is tracked and applied correctly. Our First Article Inspection (FAI) process validates prototypes and initial runs before scaling up to production, ensuring that your product meets performance and dimensional requirements from the very start.
Additionally, we have robust consigned material control in place, managing customer-supplied materials with care, traceability, and accountability. This ensures your inputs are safeguarded and utilized exactly as intended.
Purchasing Control
At FTI Manufacturing, we maintain a highly organized purchasing system to ensure that our production processes run smoothly and our customers always receive the highest-quality products.
As part of our ERP-driven MRP system, all purchase orders are systematically numbered, and we maintain strict Purchase Order Revision Control. This enables us to track changes, verify approvals, and maintain complete visibility over all procurement activities, ensuring that materials are always available when needed and production timelines are met.
We implement a contract review system for confirmation and change verification, so that any adjustments to orders are fully documented and traceable, eliminating the risk of confusion or errors.
For our supplier management, we follow a rigorous control process when adding new suppliers and removing those that no longer meet our standards. Process Control & Continuous Improvement
At FTI Manufacturing, we specialize in custom sheet metal furniture solutions, which means we do not operate a standard product line. Each project is tailored to the client’s design, resulting in a wide variety of product variants. Due to this highly customized approach, traditional practices like Statistical Process Control (SPC) and Process Stability/CPK are not applicable across our operations.
However, we maintain robust process control systems to ensure efficiency and quality. Our Work Instructions and Routings provide Job Travelers with clear paths and instructions, allowing us to track every stage of production and maintain organized workflows.
FTI is committed to continuous improvement. We systematically collect and review performance metrics, using insights to enhance our processes, reduce lead times, and optimize operational efficiency. These measures ensure that we consistently deliver high-quality, customer-specific solutions while evolving as a more capable and efficient manufacturing partner.
